Arson threat to business premises

Fire Pic.bmpThe risk posed to businesses by arson attacks has been highlighted by an incident in Bolton.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a blaze at a recycling plant in the town, with crews from both Bolton and Horwich fire stations attending.

When the crews arrived on the scene they found the premises well alight with a large quantity of recyclable material ablaze inside the warehouse.

The firefighters tackled the fire with high-powered jets and managed to bring it under control, although the building sustained considerable damage.

Investigations revealed that around ten tonnes of waste material within the recycling warehouse was damaged and the fire was started deliberately by unknown persons.

Police are carrying out enquiries to find those responsible for the blaze.

The incident underlines the risks that companies face from people wishing to carry out arson attacks.
