Brits planning to undertake some DIY home improvements as a result of the present economic situation should remember to be careful, one property expert has stated.
Michael Holmes, spokesperson for the National Home Improvement Show, said people should look to start small and "get their DIY legs" before they take on projects that could lead to them getting hurt.
"Most of these accidents are a result of power tools being misused. Home improvers are often over ambitious and overestimate their level of skill," he commented.
Indeed, Mr Holmes argued that it is likely the number of DIY injuries will increase in the months ahead, as the prospect of a double dip recession means Brits are more inclined to do work around the home themselves.
Elsewhere, the Manchester Evening News reported earlier this week that a DIY enthusiast was taken to hospital in Bury with serious burns after an explosion at his home.
It is believed that the accident was caused when fumes from the tile sealer he was using ignited and subsequently blew out four windows and made the roof rise.
