Insulation is 'an ideal upgrade' for property

UK property owners have been advised that the addition of greater amounts of insulation to a property could be the ideal home upgrade project in the present economic environment.

Bev Coombe, membership and communications manager for the National Insulation Association, said cavity wall, loft insulation and draught proofing are the best options for older residences, while for those homes that have solid walls, there are a number of solutions available, such as external/internal insulation or a combination of the two.

She commented: "Rural properties without cavities can save around £360 per year by having solid wall insulation installed with more savings being made if they also incorporate loft insulation."

Ms Coombe also recently argued that ever-increasing energy prices in the UK mean that the importance of effective insulation in properties across the country should not be underestimated.

Indeed, this means that now could be the perfect time for many to invest in additional insulation in order to make their homes more energy efficient.
